Home world

The Lataien home is the plane Lamös, a heavily developed world wreathed by several artificial rings and many satellite palaces. Lamös is orbiting a yellow dwarf star, to a subject to industrial rings. Most of the Land masses are in temperate zones of the planet. Specifically in halves of the temperate zones closer to equator. The planet Lamös has only over 9% of land, leaving over 90% of planets surface submerged.

Most of the planet is made of huge cities naturally incorporated into the warm mountains, hills and valleys. The paradise like scenery is enriched with endless ranges of wine, olive and fig trees, various citrus trees and other.

Appearance

Lataies are in appearance very close to humans. They have similar organs, be it in different positions and breathe almost identical air composition. Their skin is mediterranean with red and gold tint. Their dark black hair is usually short and carefully styled in many extravagant forms.

Lataien fashion as well as architecture, technology and basically everything revolves around gold. Carefully designed, elegant and graceful curves are seen on every millimeter.

History

The Empire of Latay has begun its journey in an ancient era as league of republics. Often joining forces against external threats and in massive conquests of new land. One such conquest, followed by two external invasions made a single individual a legend. Deotri Tillux Aquiries, supported by combined republican army proclaimed the First Empire of Aquir. After the two civil wars resulted in creation of the Third Empire of Aquir and the failed assassination attempt on his life. Emperor Tillux reformed the internal republics of the empire into a single state; The Empire of Latay.

Pushed by external enemies, the Empire constantly innovated and evolved. During the reign of emperor Marxim, the empire started to collapse under the weight of its many cultures. The Marxim´s solution was genocide. Merciless and indiscriminate. A law was established and from then, the conquests were not conquests, but cleansings. Subsequent lack of manpower in the empire resulted in an early industrial revolution followed by subtle class division and world conquest.

The empire eventually reached the stars and made many worker colonies, but by this time social class division was enormous. Under the rule of greedy aristocrats, the empire entered stagnation and in some cases even slow decline. It was during the end of 14th Servile rebellion when Arnorians made first contact. The 14th Servile rebellion was the latest of class wars. The Empire's wealth was held by few noble houses while common citizens were slaves in all but a name. Most of work was disproportionately done by machines and men alike and often created gruesome conditions. Those lucky enough of enormous unemployed masses made their living by following "their" house member, essentially acting like a show of wealth.

Recent History

The first contact between Arnor and Lataies happened as a result of Subdimensional storm. Unable to jump to the life thriving planet, Arnorians dispatched a newly manned battlecruiser; Palarran. Palarran was intercepted entering Lamös solar system by two Imperial vessels. Arrogant attitude of the Lataian captains resulted in battle. The crew of Palarran was surprised by the speed of the enemy ships and was quickly out maneuvered. Yet, despite suffering damage, Palarran´s armour and firepower proved enough to break through them.

Arnorians arrived to a fall of civilization. Only single satellite palace remained, with its weapons scorching surface of the planet. After opening fire on the Pallaran, the palace was destroyed together with last Lataian high aristocrat. The fall of the palace was the end of Servile rebellion.

The surviving Lataies on the planet had no other choice and accepted Arnorian offer. Thus world of Lamös became protectorate.

Culture

Lataien culture largely died with its aristocrats, but roots remain. Their obsession with gold, extravagant fashion as well as architecture remains. Be it in far more tempered form. New Lataies retain much of their past characteristics. Namely their competitiveness and intrigue skills. However, they are heavily influenced by Arnorian culture. Therefore they are a wierd mix of these factors.

Technology

As their culture, history and civilization, so was lost most of their technology. Few things survived and some were reverse engineered, but nearly all of their technology is now heavily influenced by the Arnorian one. Among the few useful things Lataies have and Denebol doesn't share with Arnor or doesn't reach them at all, is namely energy distribution. With it comes mainly slight improvements to sub-light engines, shields and energy based weapons on Arnorian part.

Relations with Arnor

Arnorians have a hard time with Lataien people. Their treacherous and scheming nature is highly undesirable. For worse, some view Arnorians as other high aristocrats, not as saviours. It is hard to blame them as Arnorians have truly used the situation in their advantage. However, humanitarian help as well as large help with construction and rebuilding of their home offsets this for now. Huge efforts of cultural assimilation and religious conversion on Arnorian side have a potential to suppress sparks of rebelion. How it turns out is other thing.

Lamös itself fortunately suffered only minor damage to its climate and landscape. With more and more being salvaged and constructed the more is Lamös turning valuable to Arnorian interests.
